Out in the wild

A walk in the woods!

A crispy cold morning that turned out to be a bright and sunny day. Cannot expect warmer temperatures than so early in April up in the Nordics, but it felt just the right amount to venture out. Seemed that we were not the only one that felt the same 🙂 Seldom come across so many fellow hikers on the trail. That’s the spirit folks! Just blend in and soak up the freshness.

The trail, well marked, is a relatively easy terrain, a comfortable ~ 6 km and a genuine gem for all nature lovers. It takes you around the Lake Harvika, a journey that in part reminds you of a reminiscent of old forest, paved trails and fairy footsteps.

The sky soaring old pines and mossy grounds at places along the trail reminds one of the forest that once was, stenciled out from a fairy tale. The path takes you through beautiful meadows, interspersed with old oaks and ancient stone fences.

Many of the clear-cut areas (tree felling provably in the 70’s) lies edge to edge with the lake with only a narrow border of trees in its places. Many of the former fellings have now transformed not to forests but tree plantations, wonder how it looked earlier! The deep blue clear water and the fabulous view of the lake is still breathtaking. If lucky one can spot a pair or two of swan couples lazily stroling on the water.
